Biden Makes Surprise Visit to Ukraine [1]

Joe Biden has made an unannouned visit to show support for Ukraine by meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Presidential Palace in Kyiv.

Biden was scheduled to have meetings in neighboring Poland on Tuesday. The visit by is not totally unexpected since Zelensky has offered several invitations. Biden had said during his visit to Poland last April that he was prevented from crossing over to Ukraine because of security concerns.

Zelensky said talks included “long range weapons and the weapons that may still be supplied to Ukraine even though it wasn’t supplied before.” Biden announced $500 million in additional assistance during his meeting in Kyiv.

Biden also said that the US "would announce additional sanctions against elites and companies that are trying to evade or backfill Russia’s war machine."
