What scares me to death is something shocking. I can handle most “scary” things like blood and guts stuff BUT…..and that is a big BUT I am scared to death by the shocking apperance of something. You know the kind of thing I mean… someone looks out the window to see nothing and suddenly something pops into view, etc. So, knowing this I grew up on Re-runs of The Twlight Zone. I loved the show, episodes with a twist, shows where bad guys get their comeuppance, the shock of sadness due to a destroyed pair of glasses,, the show each week was amazing. But there was one scene in one show that scared me to death and still does to this day even though I know what and when will be coming up… The episode is: The After Hours---→here Marsha White, browsing for a gift for her mother in a department store decides on a gold thimble. She is taken by the male elevator operator to the ninth floor, although the elevator's floor indicator only shows eight floors. After she walks out onto the barren, seemingly deserted ninth floor, confused, she is approached by a saleswoman who guides her to the only item on the floor: the exact gold thimble that Marsha wants. During the sales transaction, she grows increasingly puzzled by the comments and actions of both the somewhat frustrated elevator operator who transported her to there and the aloof and clairvoyant saleswoman behind the counter who addresses her by name and sells her the thimble. The saleswoman asks Marsha if she is happy; Marsha responds that it is none of her business and storms off. As Marsha rides the elevator down, she notices that the thimble is scratched and dented; she is directed by the elevator operator to the complaints department on the third floor. Flash forward a few moments later and then…. the elevator door opens and there at the door is the “lady” who sold her the thimble” and she was running from. Her shockingly being at the door, when it opened, scared me poopless. I have no idea why, with so many other more intense things to get scared by but they do not do it for me. It happens with the showing up suddenly, of the unexpected. How about you? When you were a kid was there an episode of a tv show that scared you so much that you remember it to this day?
