Dan Quayle

Republicans are in a quandary. Many do not support Donald Trump. Many would like to see Trump wither away. But who do they get to run against him that can win a few of their state primaries and effectively represent their party? Enter Dan Quayle.

In 1988 George H.W. Bush pulled Dan Quayle from relative obscurity into the national spotlight. The little-known Senator from Indiana served as the elder Bush’s Vice President, a job he considered awkward. Today Quayle is relatively the same age as Trump, his appearance is much better than Trump’s, and by now he can probably spell the word potato.

As a Blue Voter, there is no way I would vote for Quayle, but at least he would restore respect to the Republican Party. Quayle once supported Trump, now he can condemn him in ways other Republicans like Haley and Pence are not. I doubt there are pictures of Quayle partying with underage girls, baggage that when played repeatedly will almost certainly sink DeSantis. Let’s be real, Trump grabbed the pussies of women over 18, DeSantis, we’ll we don't know.

The only baggage we have on Quayle is he can’t spell well, but then potato is a tricky word. Some people even pronounce that word differently. Quayle advised Mike Pence not to mess with the electoral process, he has already participated in a peaceful transition of power. His bona fide conservative values would attract many real Republicans. Most importantly his name is not Donald Trump.

That Dan Quayle may actually be the best choice for Republicans is strong evidence of how far the party has sunk. Yet Quayle would restore security to the American electoral process. He can be trusted alone in a room with a woman. He would respect values the majority of Americans have. He shares a belief in Republican issues. Dan Quayle can save the Republican Party and contribute to saving our nation. It’s time for Dan Quayle to step out of obscurity, and back into the national spotlight.
