My "war dog" Captain Crunch

Back on February 23rd, 2022, after a bunch of background checks (!) and questions about whether I might or not be too old for a puppy, a local pet shelter finally approved me for an adoption of a cute 10-pound Corgi-Rottweiler (!) mix. Part of the adoption agreement was that I had to have the pup neutered which I allowed despite much guilt and personal wincing. One year and 45 pounds later, Crunch is a cherished part of the daily routine here which usually begins around 4 AM when one of us needs to get to a bathroom/favorite tree/outhouse. Of course, the day after I got him, Vlad the second impaler decided to send his orcs into Ukraine on a mission that seemed to lack astute preparation, background checks, concepts of shelter and freedom or any sense of guilt or personal responsibility. Kind of a weird paradox if you ask me (I know you didn’t).

Meanwhile, the war drags on and it’s truly with a sense of magnetic pole shifting that the empty greenes, Tankies and Cruz Control Clatch present themselves to the world as protectors and lovers of strength through freedom and support for Fascism , eh, communism , eh, Putinism , eh, Russia, Russia, Russia, while the peaceniks like me, (Hell I even sign off on my emails with Peace, pholkiephred) Joe Biden, Al Franken, and the rest of our proud gang are portrayed by the likes of a formerly respected bass player named Waters as war criminals. Maketh me want to upchuck on the dark side of the moon.

On the plus side I haven’t seen any of those “I’d rather vote for Putin than a Democrat” T shirts lately. And the only guy to approach me when I had my Mockba sinking T shirt on turned out to be a Ukrainian who wanted to thank me for my support. In Florida.
