Solar Makes you as happy as a restored Bus [1]

Couple years ago, a bunch of folks in the community approached a supplier of solar panels who was nice enough to provide a volume discount. My wife and I jumped on and purchased enough so that we would make all the electricity we needed during the summer to carry us through the winter with credit. The system, including installation set us back 18k. We consider it a mid- term investment since it’ll take about eight years or less to pay off. We also figured it was simply the right thing to do. So far we’ve kept 7.59 tons of CO2 out of the air. :) Did I mention the fat tax break we got? That helped tremendously.

Right now we’re making 160 watts on a cloudy, snowy day in the interior of deep, dark Alaska. South of us, I imagine you could do something similar for a lot less.
