I Can't Recommend Your Comment [1]

I rather like this site.

Why can’t I recommend comments?

I don’t mean generally, because I do all the time. I mean frequently when I want to recommend a comment, that option is not available. Instead, it shows how many other people have had the privilege of recommending the comment, but I’m denied the privilege.

I suspect this flaw is because the comment was made too much in the past for it to still take recommends. For example, today there is this article on the front page:

Public school taught me so much, and now Republicans want to rob others of that experience By Christopher Reeves Thursday February 23, 2023 · 8:47 AM PST

Yeah, that was from Thursday. But if the article is on the front page, I should be able to recommend the tip comment for that author. I just got to see this article for the first time.

So, let’s just have a fix, shall we? If an article goes on the front page, all the comments on it should be opened up for replies and recommends.
