Why Trump Should Run for President [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-27 I dump on mini-me's to win the primary and, if I lose the primary, I run against the mini-me's as an independent! Donny Dumpster Fire is everything that Dems should want in a GOP candidate for President. He's a three-time loser, he's divisive, he gobbles up money from the base and he will certainly smear all the mini-me’s who run against him, forcing them to smear him in return. It won't be pretty. If he wins the nomination, he’ll lose the presidency and, if he loses the nomination, his vindictive response to rejection will likely be that he runs as an independent, just to show the GOP that rejected him that he’s still got juice. In either case, he’ll lose AND the GOP will have been left in shambles. For all the Dem crowing about the need for a healthy, vibrant and fair two-party system, watching the GOP deteriorate while the Trump disease spreads, fomenting more treason and right wing hatred of democracy, is kind of like slowing down to look at an accident on the freeway. You can't change what happened but it slows everyone behind you and dominates your attention. The GOP has shown a complete inability to correct itself and, in fact, is spawning all kinds of corrupt deformities in MTG, Lauren Boebert, George Santos, Jim Jordan, Ron DeSantis, etc. — all Trump mini-me’s — while the rest of us passively wait and watch for the inevitable demise of Trump so that we can speed up and get back to work. The longer we watch the accident while Trump lingers, the more time there is for his cancer to spread to others and less is getting done in the federal government. Actually, his losing the nomination and running independently would create a clean break and be the best possible scenario for the GOP because they will have been officially divorced from Trump and then be forced to figure out a way to rebuild without him — something that they now have great difficulty in admitting that they must do. Even the 2022 mid-terms could not convince them, as evidenced by the House MAGA minority being given control by McCarthy. Trump is prepared to tear the entire Republican party down just to prove that he’s got the power to do so. The sooner he does that, the better. So, the more division, chaos and in-fighting that he can sow along the way, the faster his exit will be.
