Nice Gain in Renewable Electricity Generation for 2022 [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-02-28 The complete data for electric generation and consumption for 2022 dropped yesterday and here are the results. We see a nice gain of 1.7% (12.0% to 13.7%) for Wind+Solar but a drop of 0.8% for Nuclear+Hydro. The result is a 0.7% reduction in Coal+Gas. We really need to support Biden’s plans for renewable energy investment. Adding 1.7% per year is just not good enough. The USA is one of the biggest electricity consuming nations and we need to lead the transition to slow down climate change. On the bright side it is nice to see wind increase to 10.2% of our electricity. At that number nobody can say that wind is a minor contributor anymore. If we can double that percentage then wind would be our #2 source of electricity.
