[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-03-01 February has now passed But Black History still lives on In the memories of our elders And the stories of those now gone. March is Women’s History Month Another chance to fill in some gaps In stories that could serve to inspire us today And to repair some acts of erasure, perhaps. History as we learn it in school Is like a large block of Swiss cheese And some want to make the holes even bigger (Love your white boots, girl, but seriously, please!) The indigenous voices, queer voices, and others unheard For being too primitive, too perverse, or too whatever Provide a corrective, to this narrative defective For our successful survival together. History is not unlike physics We see large bodies behaving Newtonian Oblivious to the unseen quantum world Like the most proper, yet myopic, Bostonian. History has no expiration date Yet human history certainly may Unless we can learn to work together Without our perceptual blinders getting in the way.
