Kitchen Table Kibitzing, March 3, 2023: Bald Eagles in the Snow [1]

May I present to you Jackie and Shadow, a pair of eagles nesting near Big Bear Lake, 145 feet above the ground in a Jeffrey Pine tree.



Jackie, the female, is the larger of the two. She is eleven years old, Shadow is nine.

This was so interesting…Shadow used a forked stick to get Jackie off the eggs so he could give her respite. Eagles use tools!

Here is the last day in February. Sadly, it is being reported that these eggs may not hatch. It is thought that they should have hatched by now.

Should you like to check the livecam, here is a link. The camera was down for a couple of days due to the snow but is now back up. I was missing checking in on the eagles! I know I’m not alone — Jackie and Shadow have a large public.
