Response to Queries: Ways We Can Help in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-03-06 I’ve been contacted a couple of time by commenters about how they can help in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race. After that happens, i think i should just post a diary (if for no other reason than i can just send a url link in reply). The last email i received was about writing postcards. And i noted that, in one of my last diaries, i explained how our volunteers and organizers in wisconsin decided to leverage our prior work in Milwaukee, Dane and the WOW counties. We are giving our Hope volunteers access to their prior walk lists (that have phone numbers) to re-contact voters whose doors they had knocked on in the last cycle. Whether or not the volunteer had actually talked to the voter, they can explain how they had visited their domicile and even use the notes they had recorded at that time. Volunteers can then decide if they want to call all the numbers on their lists or text those they can (and call the rest). And the feedback we got back on this approach right before the primary was awesome. But we are not doing postcards in this election (which was the last query to me this weekend). Remember that our mission here at Hope Springs from Field PAC is to organize early, before most field campaigns get under way. So while we are using our resources to Get-Out-the-Vote, we are encouraging everyone who can canvass in the cold, make phone calls or text voters to do so through the campaign or coordinated campaign. Judicial campaigns are odd ducks and i am not sure how active Judge Janet Protasiewicz’s campaign is from the perspective of remote or even in state volunteers, but i always encourage people who are able to contribute to the campaign directly first. Contributions to the campaign give them direct control over how the money is spent, to fulfill their campaign plan, knowing that a large portion of that will go to advertising. Having said that, Wisconsin (and Minnesota) Democrats have long been well-organized. I strongly suspect most if not all the field efforts on behalf of Janet Protasiewicz’s campaign is running through the coordinated effort there. I know that the Wisconsin Dems have remote phone bank opportunities: https://www.mobilize.us/wisdems/event/545075/ If you live in Wisconsin (or, for that matter, live close to Wisconsin in Illinois, Minnesota or even the UP of Michigan, you can check out the volunteer opportunities through the Wisconsin Dems: www.mobilize.us/wisdems/ You already know that mobilize.us serves as a core Democratic outlet for volunteer opportunities for most Democratic organizations and those affiliated with electing Democrats throughout the country. You can search mobilize.us for other opportunities among progressive organizations working to elect Judge Janet Protasiewicz to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. For those interested in sending post cards, i know Flip the West (now Activate America) is doing postcards, and you can find more information about their efforts here: https://www.mobilize.us/activateamerica/event/545898/ This is not intended to be an extensive catalog of volunteer opportunities and i should note that many of the more organized (even the lesser organized) Democratic organizations have on-going volunteer opportunities in your area (eg, i know of many on-going phone banks around the country that are often just self-organized by their leaders for the purpose of electing Democrats) and you can always look to see if there is something close to you. I appreciate everyone who reaches out to me for the purpose of helping to elect Democrats, especially through voter contact. In the case of Hope Springs from Field PAC, our efforts are largely directed, with goals established, by our “super” volunteers. Even some of the tactics we employed last year were the brainchilds of volunteers. But we are all in this together, headed in the same direction. Hope that helps...
