Projection Racket: Today's GQP [1]

Today’s Republican party has morphed into something downright frightening, distasteful, and sad. Not sad in an “I really hope they can get their act together” sort of way, but sad in a former beauty queen HS local mini-celebrity who married the local football star just out of High School and fell into a feedback loop of despair, alcohol, meth and finally jail time sort of way. But also in the sort of way where said former beauty queen also commits sedition and tries to overthrow her country.

I don’t have time to research all of the different examples of the various different elected Republicans who have projected their own personal failings/criminality (Rep. Scott DeJarlais comes to mind) onto a specific opponent, the Democratic Party or spooky spooky “liberals”, but I was reminded of the psychopathic, almost reflexively needy, way in which elected Rs resort to projection by Heather Cox Richardson’s morning newsletter.

It appears that the “good folks” of GA decided to send a Mr. Loudermilk to Congress, where he has been rewarded with the position of chair of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight. He decided to use that position to join in with sexual abuse ignorer “Gym” Jordan in the seditionist drifter’s circus of lies to run a hearing on the “ security failures” of the Jan. 6, 2021 attempted and on-going coup attempt against the US by the former president and over 140 currently serving members of Congress, including Mr. Loudermilk himself. Ya see, Mr. Loudermilk wants us to believe that it was somehow Nancy Pelosi, or antifa, or who knows, maybe even Barack Obama’s fault that those peaceful tourists somehow managed to smash their way into smearing feces all over the halls of Congress. He wants us to believe that it’s anybody but his own fault. Don’t. Mr. Loudermilk himself led an unsanctioned, unofficial “tour” of the Capitol to a group of his biggest fans. Among those fans was a dude who the very next day participated in that violent coup attempt against the same government that Mr. Loudermilk “proudly” serves. This dude was fond of using eliminationist rhetoric against the various Democratic leaders whom the Sedition Caucus has been targeting for some time.

The Republican Party of today has no vision, as personified by not even drafting a platform for governance in 2020, but vowed instead to just do whatever ol’ Culty told ‘em to. It is morally, intellectually, ethically, and patriotically bankrupt and exists only to protect its ability project their own failings on to us, the voters of the USA. They are a Projection Racket, that lies about their lies, to prop up the liars, and project the malicious mendacity of those liars onto everyone else to protect those projecting their own criminality onto others.
