Too often, the lessons of a response to a disaster such as a pandemic, are not learned but are ignored, resulting in a lack of improved responses to future similar events. Dr. Robertson explores the potential for learning about a range of impacts of theCOVID-19 pandemic and translates his understanding of the science behind the lessons for the reader who is not a scientist, but who would like to learn more about what needs to be learned to inform the response to future events. He describes the virus, as well as an analysis of the factors that contributed to effective and ineffective responses to its potential for spread, as well as the impact of conspiracy theories and politics. He leaves the reader with an understanding of what we can and should learn from the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
