The Dopeler Effect [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-03-16 No, that is not a typo. Bear with me as I explain the above phenomenon. First, let’s begin with the Doppler effect. This is the effect of a sound being perceived as a higher pitch as a speeding object approaches you. And similarly, the effect of a sound being perceived as a lower pitch as speeding object moves away from you. You may have experienced this while stopped at a train crossing, or while on a sidewalk as an ambulance passes by. The train whistle or ambulance siren sounds higher as it approaches but then sounds lower once having passed. Now, on to the similar Dopeler effect. This occurs when mis-truths and plain old variety lies are expelled from a person’s mouth at a furious rate in an attempt to confuse and convince the listener that what is being said is in fact true. However much like the Doppler effect, once the speeding alternate facts pass, the listener reflects on the truthfulness of what was said and finds it to be completely lacking. You likely have already experienced the Dopeler effect. If you haven’t, you can easily do so if you desire. All you need to do is to watch a speech or committee questioning by Jim Jordan, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene or others of their ilk. Just remember to pause and reflect on what was said once their self-aggrandizing moment has passed!
