Florida Confederate flag Bill [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-03-17 Jay Collins, a Florida State Senator (R-Tampa), accidentally filed a bill that would allow the confederate flag to fly outside of government building. A spokesperson for the Senator said the filing was in error. This seems like a sincere mistake. What legislator doesn’t have a confederate flag bill lying around that may be accidentally filed? It’s the sort of thing that can happen to anyone. However... Apparently, the bill was filed in error because they needed to work on the wording of the bill (I suspect the bill was written in crayon and they were informed it would need to be typed out). But, we are assured by Collins spokesman Ted Veerman that Senator Collins is not a confederate sympathizer and any insinuation that he is a sympathizer is disgusting. Mind you, the bill is not disgusting, just the insinuation is disgusting. Florida is just the gift that keeps giving.
