Dark Brandon Comes To Ottawa [1]

Adding to Shower’s excellent diary from this weekend, I wanted to share a little more information about Biden’s trip to Ottawa, Canada, last week and his excellent put-down of our Conservative party.

You see, our right-wing Conservative Party here in Canada just watches too much Fox News. So they were all thinking that the Biden they would meet in Ottawa on Friday was the weak and stumbling “Joe” that Fox News has created.

When Biden gave his talk to Parliament last week, the Conservatives thought they could get away with disrespecting him.

But here they met "Dark Brandon" Joe, the guy who won't put up with any right-wing malarkey, and who can dish it out faster than they can take it. He called Poilievre and the Conservatives out on their disrespect for women, and they couldn't do anything but take it. Here is what happened:

x They were admonished with such good humour and with great charm by @potus, but frankly it was incredibly embarrassing that many of the Conservatives had to be told to get up and applaud the fact that both @potus and @JustinTrudeau had gender parity in their Cabinets. #cdnpoli — penny collenette (@penottawa) March 24, 2023

And can you imagine how pleased the Liberals and the New Democratic Party are, now that they can have the following clip to play over and over during the next election campaign, when the Conservatives are trying to tell Canadians how much they respect women. The guy giving the Slow Clap here to Biden is a Conservative named Andrew Scheer, who was leader of the Conservative Party until he lost an election to Trudeau back in 2019.

Scheer was replaced by a Conservative named Erin O’Toole, who then lost the 2021 election to Trudeau. O’Toole has now been replaced by a Conservative named Pierre Poilievre — who will, I sincerely hope, lose the 2025 election to Trudeau too.
