There are few things more pleasurable than a nice, hot, steamy shower at the end of the day. You start the shower a few minutes before you get in so the steam is flowing throughout the bathroom. You ump in the shower and do a quick adjustment to the water a pinch hotter or a pinch cooler, as appropriate. Stand under the shower and before even soaping up the washcloth just allowing the water (if the pressure is just right) to roll off the torso, neck, shoulders, relaxing the tension as well as any masseuse. Soap up the washcloth and wash everything. Do it two or three times. Do the hot water massage thing again for a few minutes before stepping out. About 30-40 minutes all together. (Usually I spend about 10 minutes in the shower but I know by the water massage whether I’m getting ready to take a 40 minute shower...you just know!) Dry off, put some night clothes on. If I had any plans for the rest of the day or night, they are all shot to hell now. Much like the absolutely perfect sturdy fluffy pancake, a sunrise or sunset that leaves me speechless, the cup of coffee with just the right amount of cream and sugar (or a sugar substitute, nowadays) or a steaming hot cup of ginger tea before bed (I’m all out of ginger tea!). A pair of birds singing the right song. With all sorts of breaking news everywhere and about everything, let no one forget simple things. As a bonus this evening just north of Howard Street in Chicago, we have thunder and lightning, and rain. (Hopefully, there won’t be any sirens tonight telling us to take cover from an approaching tornado.) The perfect ending to a...really, not such a bad day at all! Comments below the fold.
