Candidate Mark Lamb for Betrayal of Fellow Officers & Support for Jan. 6th Insurrection [1] [] Date: 2023-04 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 11, 2023 CONTACT: press@gallegoforarizona.com BREAKING: Former Capitol Police Officer Blasts AZ Sen. Candidate Mark Lamb for Betrayal of Fellow Officers & Support for Jan. 6th Insurrection “Not only has Mark Lamb chosen to parrot the insurrectionists’ account of January 6th, but he has actively questioned the truth and honor of the brave officers who fought to protect our nation that day.” WASHINGTON – Following news that far-right election-denier and January 6th apologist Sheriff Mark Lamb has entered the U.S. Senate race in Arizona, former Capitol Hill Police Sergeant Aquilino Gonell released the following statement: “As a former Capitol Hill Police Officer who defended the Capitol during the January 6th attack, I’m disgusted by Mark Lamb’s continued perpetuation of the ‘Big Lie’ that led to the attack on me and my fellow officers and his attempts to excuse the violent actions taken by the January 6th rioters. “Would he be okay with thousands of rioters breaking in and ransacking his place of work to hunt down and execute those inside – including law enforcement officers defending his coworkers? “The rioters were violent, treasonous insurrectionists that injured nearly 140 officers in their quest to overturn the results of a free and fair election. They left officers with physical and mental injuries that, in many cases, still have not healed. And they were egged on before, during, and after their attack on the Capitol by Mark Lamb, who called them ‘loving, Christian people’ who ‘just happen to support President Trump a lot.’ As someone who fought on the ground that day, I can promise him that the rioters weren’t trying to spread the gospel as they assaulted me and my colleagues. “Not only has Mark Lamb chosen to parrot the insurrectionists’ account of January 6th, but he has actively questioned the truth and honor of the brave officers who fought to protect our nation that day, all while claiming in campaign videos to “support our law enforcement.” “Mark Lamb talks a lot about law and order, but he only upholds the laws that he agrees with. That’s not law and order, that’s chaos and division. And just like Lamb, it has no place in our government. His actions are a dereliction of duty and a total betrayal of his fellow officers, his oath of duty, and the Constitution. “The 14th amendment states that no person who has previously sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution and taken part in an insurrection against our government shall hold public office. Mark Lamb has chosen his side, now he must bear the consequences of his actions. He is ineligible for government.” ABOUT RUBEN The son of immigrants, Ruben is one of four kids raised by a single mother on a secretary’s salary with an absent father.
