And it wasn’t just me. I got this article from — wait for it — Fox propaganda about the lack of reaction from McConnell about Trump’s indictment. Seems that Fox is still trying to placate the lunatic fringe. And while some in the media will say, “McConnell isn’t feeling well, so give him a break!” McConnell is not dead. In fact, he is raising hell against the move in the Senate to end that authorization of force against Iraq. He is just in his shell hiding when it comes to Trump. Let’s go with Fox propaganda: McConnell silent on Trump's indictment as House GOP leaders slam 'weaponized' justice system McConnell is not on good terms with former President Trump Ouch! Can’t a snapping turtle get a little bit of love from the Republican propaganda channel? Terrapins need love too! Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has said nothing about former President Donald Trump's indictment this week, even as several House Republicans have condemned the charges as politically motivated. Since Trump's indictment was reported Thursday, McConnell has issued no public statements on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's criminal case against the former president and leading Republican 2024 candidate. Neither has Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., the No. 2 Republican in the Senate. McConnell's office told Fox News Digital that it did not have a comment as of Friday. Thune's office did not respond to a request for comment. However, we know that other Republican senators are losing their fuckin’ minds. Someone send some money to Lindsey Graham before he passes out! /s. And the Fox propagandists do point out that other senate Republicans are fully for manning the barricades to protect Trump. While McConnell and Thune have said nothing so far, other Senate GOP leaders have spoken out against the indictment. The No. 3 Republican, Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wy., called it a "politically motivated prosecution by a far-left activist." "If it was anyone other than President Trump, a case like this would never be brought. Instead of ordering political hit jobs, New York prosecutors should focus on getting violent criminals off the street," Barrasso said in a statement to Fox News Digital. Republican Policy Committee Chairman Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., each gave similar statements. I’m not sure why that asshole Barrasso felt the need to salute Trump. If I recall, he easily won reelection in 2022, so he doesn’t really need to pucker up and kiss Trump’s ass. But I suppose he is a true believer like Graham. But Fox wasn’t done there. They did a full on bore comparison to all those fine people in the House who have come to the aid of the shit throwing orange ape. And it wasn’t pretty. McConnell's silence stands in stark contrast to his counterpart in the House of Representatives. After news of the indictment broke, Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., slammed Bragg and said that he "has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election." "As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump," McCarthy said of Bragg. "The American people will not tolerate this injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account." And they quote from all the other cavemen in the House. Fox is doing its best not to get any distance from Trump. Looks like that Dominion lawsuit is not changing anything at Fox. The only sop they did give to our sickly snapping turtle is that McConnell blames Trump for blowing another election to regain a majority for the Senate Republicans. And Trump has done that for two elections now for Senate Republicans. But McConnell had his chance to get rid of Trump in 2021, and he refused to take it with a conviction of Trump in his impeachment trial. And in case you think that McConnell is off his game because he is under the weather, I have to call bullshit on that. He had more than enough energy to scream against the revoking of the authorization of the use of force against Iraq. And you have to love the reason why: While Senate Debates AUMF, Iran Keeps Killing and Wounding Americans WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) issued the following statement as the Senate debates repealing the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force: “I am opposed to Congress sunsetting any military force authorizations in the Middle East. Our terrorist enemies aren’t sunsetting their war against us. And when we deploy our servicemembers in harm’s way, we need to supply them with all the support and legal authorities that we can. “Last week, the Senate began debating the potential repeal of the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force. It’s no surprise that Leader Schumer and the Biden Administration would rather debate the history of the Iraq War than grapple with their own recent foreign policy failures. But the 2002 AUMF bears directly on the threats we face today in Iraq and Syria from Iran-backed terrorists. “Iraq has come under extremely heavy influence and manipulation from Iran. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has spent years standing up political parties, militias, and terrorist proxies in Iraq whose chief loyalty is to Tehran. Our enemies in Iran who have spent two decades targeting and killing Americans in the Middle East would be delighted to see America dial down our military presence, authorities, and activities in Iraq. “Tehran wants to push us out of Iraq and Syria. Why should Congress make that easier? “While the Senate’s been engaged in this abstract, theoretical debate about rolling back American power, Iran has continued its deadly attacks on us. Just last week a suspected Iranian attack killed one American and wounded six more in Syria. Some in America may think our war against terrorism is sunsetting, but clearly the terrorists do not agree. “After a small initial response from the Biden Administration, Iran launched yet more attacks over the weekend, aimed at killing even more Americans. Our President’s response to this escalation seems to have been to pull his punches and let Tehran have the last word. “These threats are not just a regional matter. An Administration that cannot even deter Iran from openly attacking U.S. servicemembers is not going to be able to deter the People’s Republic of China. “It appears the Administration kept Senators in the dark about last Thursday’s attack until Senators had finished voting on amendments to the AUMF repeal. That included Senator Rubio’s amendment that would have conditioned the AUMF repeal on a proven reduction in Iran’s backing of terrorism. “Fortunately, the Senate has more chances to work its will. And this week’s debate needs to be just the beginning of a much broader and deeper look at the Biden Administration’s failed Middle East policies. “This Administration must change its strategy, rebuild deterrence, end Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability, and protect Americans and American interests from Iranian terrorism.” There are so many lies and bullshit in that press release I hardly know where to begin. I’ll just go with the one big thing that stuck out to me. We wouldn’t be having these problems in Iraq and Syria if GEORGE W. BUSH HAD NOT INVADED IRAQ TO START WITH! Yes, Saddam Hussein would probably still be in Iraq, but we created nothing but chaos by removing him from power. Then we got ISIS from all those unemployed Sunni Iraqi army veterans! And they have spread into Syria. So I don’t know where Iraq War loving McConnell gets off talking about “Biden’s failed Middle East policy” when he supported one of the greatest disasters of all time. McConnell was and is a supporter of that failed war. And he just doesn’t want a vote overturning the use of force authorization because it will make him look bad. And by the way Mitch, if you want to strengthen the mullahs in Iran just have military strikes against Iran. The prodemocracy movement in Iran will come to a screeching halt because the Ayatollah will use military action by the Great Satan as an excuse to crack down on internal enemies to the regime. And a bunch of old timer Iranians will rally around the Ayatollah. Besides being evil, Mitch can be downright fucking stupid. Anyway, the good news is that it looks like McConnell will lose on that Senate vote. Almost 20 GOP senators have signaled they will vote for the repeals, likely giving Democrats the votes they need to approve the two measures. “I think a lot of lessons have been learned over the last 20 years,” said Indiana Sen. Todd Young, the lead Republican sponsor of the repeal. He said that those supporting the legislation “want to ensure that the American people can hold us accountable, rather than delegating those important authorities to an executive branch and then lamenting the unwitting wisdom of the executive branch if things don’t go well.” The October 2002 votes to give President George W. Bush broad authority for the invasion were a defining moment for many members of Congress. After the initial March 2003 invasion, American ground forces quickly discovered that Bush administration’s allegations of nuclear or chemical weapons programs were baseless. In the end, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and nearly 5,000 U.S. troops died in the war. Young noted that there is other existing authority for President Joe Biden, along with past and future presidents, to order military action. But lawmakers fear the Iraq war powers could be used for purposes Congress never intended. Stay in your fuckin’ shell Mitch.
