New FL Dems Chair Arrested While Protesting 6 Week Abortion Ban [1]

Nikki Fried handcuffed and escorted away by Tallahassee PD for peacefully protesting 6-week abortion ban.

Florida Dems have had a rough couple of weeks.

Permit-less carry, gutting of Teachers Unions, and now a 6 week abortion ban follow a massacre of low dem turnout in November in our state.

But things are swinging the other direction. Not a month after being elected the chair of the Florida Democratic Party, former Agriculture Commissioner and the most recent statewide elected Democrat, Nikki Fried, was arrested while peacefully protesting the 6 week abortion ban along with State Senator Lauren Book, and a dozen activists.

While this might be what makes the headlines, this shouldn’t come as a shock to those who have been following Chairwoman Fried in her non-stop blitz over the last few weeks. She comes with one message. Florida Dems are back- and they aren’t going down without a fight.

All while rebuilding the party from scratch after being abandoned by those who didn’t wish to see her in power, she’s been sighted at pride parades, organization meetings, protests, sit ins, and more.

Gone are the days of party chairs who sat back and broke their silence only to wish leadership a happy thanksgiving, even media outlets like Florida Politics have expressed surprise at how, well, present, the FDP’s communications game has been in the last few weeks.

Even Ron Desantis only broke his silence after Trump’s jabs last week when Fried took a swing at him. After all, she’s always been able to get under his skin.

Make no mistake, this is what leadership looks like, and what it’s going to take to get MSNBC to stop looping footage of 45’s Jet for the next 2 years.
