Judge Juan Merchan just arraigned Trump and the Indictment of was unsealed. The 34 criminal charges were all felonies involving a scheme to suppress negative information just before the 2016 Presidential election. Trump pled not guilty to all charges.

Trump surrendered and was formally arrested, fingerprinted, and arraigned this afternoon at 2:15; no mugshot was taken. After arraignment he was released in his own recognizance, and will immediately fly back to Mar- A -Largo where he is scheduled to make a speech to his supporters.

It is important not to just think of this as as the Stormy Daniels “hush money” case, or the Karen McDougall “catch and kill” affair, but to understand that it is also an election interference case, in that the “hush money” was paid to prevent negative publicity from reaching the voters just days before the 2016 Presidential election. If the Stormy Daniels scandal, and the Karen McDougall (Playboy Bunny) affair would have become public, at the same time the Access Hollywood videos was all over the nation’s television screens, taken together, they may have been sufficient to given Hillary Clinton enough electoral votes to have been elected President.

Remember Hillary won the popular vote, if she had just a few extra votes, in just a few states, she may have also won the electoral vote. The “hush money” and “catch and kill” payments may have bought Trump the election.

This is not a trivial issue.
