What a relief--A win for WI State Supreme Court! [1]

I just saw on the news that this race has been called for Protasiewicz, and am so relieved. I just returned yesterday to my home in Illinois from canvassing in WI for a couple days. I joined with a small Buddhist group who have been working in elections for many years (www.electionretreat.org).

I have canvassed several times in the past, and find it tedious (hence the need for meditation to keep me going). It seems 90% of the houses no one answers/no one is home. But, I have to remember the good that comes from canvassing-- there is usually at least one person I happen to actually talk to, who needed some motivation/information to go and vote. This time, it was a barista at a Milwaukee coffee shop (they have the most wonderful coffee shops there) who was not sure exactly when election day was. I was happy to inform him, and he promised to go vote!

So, tonight I am grateful to the many people who have written, called, canvassed, donated, hoped and prayed and cursed---all to support this victory for this vital State Supreme Court seat.

Also, thanks to Daily Kos and the community for the information and inspiration for all of us to keep doing what we can.
