Bolly and his Unusual Hat

Presaging the events which followed, was the birth of young Bolly. (Proceeding predictably upon his conception.) So it was less than uninteresting that it wasn't until he was discovered, abandoned in an unusual hat, mostly being unusual because young Bolly was in it, that the dull necessity of conferring upon him a referential identification, "Bolly" -- soon and forever after stuck. Happily, the hat he grew up in, he grew up in to -- and so he became a welcome and beloved, or more usually tolerated and ignored, resident of, parts of, the village.

Unimagined by all, was how unusual Bolly's hat truly was. It was the Hat, they all decided, that prompted Bolly to one day walk -- away.

For awhile when my wife didn't mind, I told her stories to help her get to sleep. Anymore she hits the pillow as soon as lights out and -- Once upon a time I imagined aloud a young fellow, there long ago in places unknown -- he had an unusual hat, and his name was Bolly.
