One of my favorite books of this sort is The Iowa Baseball Confederacy by W.P. Kinsella, the centerpiece of which is a weeks-long baseball game that lasts over 2000 innings. And that’s not the weirdest part of that game.

It’s so prevalent that one man created a fictional Major League Baseball player named Lou Proctor and actually got him into the record books!
