I have always tried to keep a fairly low profile here on Daily Kos (and have, I admit, failed sometimes). I try to keep my posts (on issue posts, not so much on community stuff) focused on the issues, and have not given out a lot of data on who I am. Some of that is because I’ve had a couple of stalkers here and some threats (from users long gone, mostly), but most is because I find it a distraction.

That is changing today for one simple reason: I am now a published writer.

I have a six-book series I am working on that is now available on Amazon, and I can’t beg you to read it unless you know who I am. Yeah — I had to go with Amazon as my ‘friends’ at Penguin and Harper-Collins and all that turned it down. Big Publishing does not respect mid-list writers any more. :(

Anyway — after 15 years here, I am opening the door and saying hello.

Hello. :) It’s just me.

My name is Carl Dershem, and I started writing this series about 8 ½ years ago. It’s Sword and Sorcery stuff if you boil it down to the basics, but I have tried to give it a philosophical core. If it were set in a more technical setting, it might be classified as “Urban Fantasy” like my friends Jim Butcher and Tanya Huff, but it’s not, so… well, now you know the style I am aiming for.
