Why do climate change deniers tend to lean right? [1]

Because they are living in an information bubble created by oil barons through donations to front groups, who donate to performative actors put in office by those donations. These performative actors are so passionate about defending their lobbyists from the petroleum industry because their own riches are dependent on keeping legislation in place that keeps the petroleum industries in a position to keep getting richer.

These include tax breaks, voting against environmental protections and voting against subsidizing alternative energy sources; allowing price gouging whenever the price of gas goes up, by artificially decreasing production and during holidays, etc. So the right wing politicians have a vested interest in promoting the false narrative that climate change is a political hoax. Those who spread that story are those who receive the millions in campaign donations, i.e., mostly those on the right (Republicans and a few sellout Democrats like Manchin and Sinema).

The top 1% have come to the conclusion that only the richest will be able to survive the inevitable climate change that is coming; and they do everything they can to enrich themselves further instead of trying to find solutions to ameliorate the damage that is coming. So those in positions to spread the false narrative that climate change is just the normal fluctuations of the weather; are mostly on the right; and will continue to convince the gullible that it isn't real, until they are themselves faced with climate disasters (after it is too late for them).

My hero, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse has revealed those connections for us and provides us with the receipts; everyone who has not already bought into the idea that it’s all “fake news,” and so deliberately keeps their heads buried in the sand, can follow the money and see for themselves:
