This nation is being ruptured from within as selfish foolish people have made their way into the highest levels of our leadership, and I include in that assertion Donald J Trump, the Manchurian president. Fortunately, we have the US Constitution, which is unimpeachable, and provides us with protection and guidance against enemies within and without. Let's just see if the Republican party has the courage to do what is right. There has been speculation over the last few years about the demise of the GOP as it is currently configured, but I didn't think it was likely. Recent events make me wonder if my judgement was faulty. What we have now is a situation where the party is supporting a president that they clearly don't like. I think that most republicans (except for the extreme right) will soon abandon Trump because of his lies, erratic behavior and actions. The obvious connection to the Russians is completely unacceptable. They are faced with a dilemma...support his increasingly disfunctional administration and very possibly getting wiped out in the 2018 midterm elections, or turn against him and alienate the base. What is really unfortunate on the political side is...American democracy is healthiest when there are 2 robust, healthy parties who can argue, disagree, and negotiate in good faith for the benefit of all Americans. This is not what we now have, and I believe the fault lays in the hands of the wealthiest humans , not just here in the US, but worldwide. who see only profit and benefit to themselves. No surprise...it is human nature to be selfish, and it takes a higher evolution to become philanthropic. For so long the Republican party has distracted their base with dog whistle issues like abortion, religious freedom, trickle down, gun control and other bullshit they don't actually care about. Guess what? Obama is not coming for your guns and never was, the gay couple who got married haven't affected your marraige at all, abortions are at their lowest levels since 1973, and supply side economics is a scam that makes rich people richer and the rest of us shit out of luck. Now they've seized on Muslim refugees, because those women and children (the majority of refugees) pose some threat to our way of life. How many times will we vilify people who grew up different than us? The DNA is all the same, we are all part of the human family. Those issues are only there to distract from what the real agenda is...huge tax cuts for the rich, tax increases for the rest of us, the end of Social Security and Medicare, and the end of affordable healthcare. If anyone thinks those goals are good for average Americans, then you are a fucking idiot. And if you are still supporting this current crop of republicans then you have lost your way.
