Conservatives aren’t just trying to ban the abortion pill, mifepristone, from the market. They’re trying to gut the entire FDA.

They’ve been against progressive government in all of its forms, and that includes Teddy Roosevelt’s term. The Pure Food and Drug Act was anathema to turn-of-the-century conservatives. As much as they may have later despised FDR and the New Deal, they held equal contempt for the FDA, federal preservation of land, and other TR initiatives. (The federal income tax was enacted during Taft’s tenure, widely regarded as TR’s third term. And we know how conservatives feel about that measure.)

I think this is the GOP’s operant game plan, under the guise of gutting abortion rights. It’s a two-fer.
