NY Times "Abortion Pill decision may face headwinds at" SCOTUS & Pop (NBA) speaks out on guns [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-04-11 Even though conservatives have sought to limit the authority of agencies within the Executive Branch of the federal government and promote forced birtherism, this decision may be too “poorly written” and go too far even for the radicals on the Supreme Court like accused rapist Brett Kavanaugh who claims that they “want to get out of the business of ruling on abortion rights”. Now that they have taken away the right of women to have bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom and made law inherently unreliable and without stability because of their blatant decision to ignore precedent, they want to avoid the subject. Now after showing their disdain for women, it’s time to get out of the business of making those decisions. Except it can’t avoid this subject because of the large number of red states with extreme forced birther laws that will be brought to them. Those who side with women and women’s right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom will want to challenge these backward laws and radical forced birthers will want to see how far they can go. It’s also convenient to end the business of ruling on choice after taking the right of reproductive freedom from women. It’s similar to what Trump and Trumpers wanted to do with the 2020 presidential election, stop the count in swing states as soon as Trump took the lead. It’s bullshit. Moreover, Chief Justice John Roberts supported ceding these types of decisions to the FDA in the past. Of course, as the NY Times notes at the end of their article, there is no guarantee with these stone age radicals. Again, we see the effects of the tyranny of the minority. . x YouTube Video . Popovich called out Marsha Blackburn for saying that her office stands ready to assist when she was unwilling to act on the gun part of gun crimes and mass shootings. He pointed out that the fear republicans in Congress have of being primaried has led them to be unwilling to act. He likely could mean that it is a myth that we can’t be free if there are any limitations on what weapons a person in this country can hold. This latter interpretation seems to be in keeping with his next sentences because he asks if school children are free when they have to be in fear of going to school because they could be killed by guns. He asks what benefit there is to Governor Lee’s promise to monitor, “What are you monitoring, they’re dead!” He talks about how he and we would like to get the republican lawmakers individually in a room and ask them what is more important, their job or the life of a single child. He points out the outrage of the AR-15 pins and the AR-15s being held by the families of republican lawmakers in postcards [I have seen the same with Christmas cards too sadly] and asks if this is the way that get street cred as republicans. He spoke of the “myth” of the second amendment. The first interpretation is probably correct. However, he could mean the bullshit nature of the slippery slope argument and the choice to ignore the language speaking of a “well-regulated militia. He also points out that gun control has majority support. Again, we see the tyranny of the minority at work. . x YouTube Video . x YouTube Video . The two best current coaches in the NBA are Gregg Popovich and his disciple, Steve Kerr, whose views on this topic began when his father was murdered when he was a college freshmen in 1984, long before he met his future coach. Popovich has won more games as head coach than any other NBA coach ever. The Spurs head coach won five NBA championships (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2014) while making six NBA finals. He has used his position, being widely considered as one of the very best head coaches of all time, for good. He has spoken out time and again on a wide range of issues, being a voice for those who are not being listened to because of a lack of poor. Steve Kerr has spoken out for gun control for as long as I have had the opportunity to hear him, but this is not the only issue he has spoke out on. . . . . . .
