Trump is trying to stop his own VP from testifying before a grand jury. [tap, tap. Is this mike on?] [1]

Once again, we have evidence of a completely f’ked up body politic because this should be wall-to-wall, front page, scandalous news, and devastating to Trump’s public standing. A former president (running for election again and as the front runner!) - who professes his innocence - is trying to block the testimony of his own Vice President concerning whether the former president tried to subvert democracy. This won’t get but a ripple of public and press attention. But it is his own Vice President. And the Vice President is not joined in this effort. See “Mike Pence won’t appeal ruling ordering him to testify in special counsel probe, spokesman says.” A former president (running for election again and as the front runner!) - who professes his innocence - is trying to block the testimonyconcerning whether the former president tried to subvert democracy. This won’t get but a ripple of public and press attention. But it is his own Vice President. And the Vice President is not joined in this effort.

Talk about corrosive effect or defining deviancy down. Just consider this make believe, counter-factual news story:

Criminal prosecutors are investigating former president Barrack Obama for allegedly asking his then vice president Joseph Biden to pressure Virginia officials to falsely call the state for Obama in the 2012 election. Biden has publicly admitted that such pressure by Obama occurred, and his refusal to do what Obama demanded. Biden would like to cooperate by testifying before the grand jury. Former president Obama is suing to prevent anyone from hearing Biden’s testimony, including by appealing all the way to the Supreme Court.

Umm, I just described what would, and should, have been one of the biggest U.S. stories of this century. Switch the names and some irrelevant details, and I also described exactly what is happening now.
