Democrat Sarah Klee Hood to run again for CNY House seat [1] ['Luke Parsnow', 'Published Pm Et Apr.'] Date: 2023-04-13 DeWitt Town Councilor Sarah Klee Hood will make a second bid for Congress. The Air Force veteran, a Democrat, will run for New York’s 22nd Congressional District seat in the 2024 elections, Hood announced Thursday. “This year, the House majority runs through #NY22 so I'm running for Congress again,” she wrote on Twitter. I’m a working Mom, DeWitt Town Councilor & Air Force veteran. Last year, I ran for Congress & fell just short after corrupt crypto bro Sam Bankman-Fried spent nearly half a million to beat me. This year, the House majority runs through #NY22 so I'm running for Congress again. pic.twitter.com/dGDThWKet4 — Sarah Klee Hood (@SarahKleeHoodNY) April 13, 2023 Hood ran for the Democratic nomination for the district in 2022, finishing second to Francis Conole. Conole would go on to be defeated by Republican Brandon Williams in the general election. The 22nd District is made up of Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties, as well as a small sliver of Oswego County. Anchored by the city of Syracuse, the Central New York district has been held by a Republican for nearly a decade, though it has comfortably voted Democratic at the presidential level over the last few cycles. The purple district, and Williams’ close victory in 2022, means the district will likely be one of the state’s more competitive races next year. Since Republicans flipped several New York seats and gained a narrow majority in the House of Representatives, the new 22nd District will likely see major support and attention from both parties next year as control of the chamber could be in play once again.
