Hunter covered this story on the front page yesterday, and his writing will always be funnier than mine, but I’d already started this so here it is. There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about. Oscar Wilde There’s been a ton of press the last couple weeks about Bud Light making a promotion deal with a transgender “Tik Tok star” named Dylan Mulvaney. Per Distractify: The anger at Budweiser stems entirely from the brand's decision to team up with TikTok star and trans activist Dylan Mulvaney to celebrate her "365 days of Girlhood milestone." Budweiser announced that Dylan would now be serving as a spokesperson for the brand, and Dylan posted to her Instagram about the Bud Light that she'd been sent… Some initially believed that the partnership was some sort of April Fool's prank, but once they realized it was real, many who are opposed to the notion of trans people began to protest the partnership. I’m sure management at AB InBev expected pushback on such an edgy choice, and chose to take the chance. They’ve understood for a while that diversity is profitable. The trumpers are predictably losing their minds. Semi-talented musician Kid Rock filmed himself shooting up a stack of Bud Light with an assault rifle, inspiring USA Today columnist Rex Huppke to offer up some first class snark saying us libs should consider ourselves owned bigtime. It was clear from that moment that I too, as a patriot, needed to purchase several cases of Bud Light and then destroy them with the same type of firearm used in most mass shootings. If this act of responsible protest offended your delicate sensibilities, I’ll be happy to loan you my “Liberal Tears” mug. -— But wait, there’s more. What’s the modern right wing’s second favorite game, after performative outrage? That’s right, GRIFTING. All those good conservatives who won’t drink Bud Light anymore need a new brand of swill, and here it is! And how about that price tag? That linked article has a lot of speculation about who actually makes this beer (possibly an AB company LOL). Seems to me to have product available this fast they must have just wrapped new plastic labels onto cans of some existing beer. --- It’s not just beer drinkers getting triggered either. You know who else is too woke? Jack Daniel’s. A New Jersey man’s beef with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey turning too “woke” has gone viral after he posted a video of himself torching a comically massive load of merchandise and booze to protest the brand’s support for the LGBTQ+ community. “For those of you who know me well my drink has always been Jack Daniels,” he wrote. “For over 150 years since 1866 this drink was always associated with cowboys, warriors, bikers, savage rock bands and all American badass people.” “THEY WENT WOKE,” he said with the middle finger emoji… Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey has recently come under fire with right-wingers for the brand’s Pride campaign with former contestants of RuPaul’s Drag Race BeBe Zahara Benet, Manila Luzon, and Trinity the Tuck. As part of that partnership, the company has created a reality series that showcases members of the LGBTQ+ community as they explore the food and drink industry. Jack Daniel’s is part of the Brown-Forman distilling group, based in Louisville, Kentucky. I’d bet that most of the bosses of Brown-Forman are unwoke assholes who vote for Mitch McConnell and don’t like drag queens much, but this is business. -— I’m having an Old Speckled Hen, after this probably switching to Hazy Little Thing. What are you drinking? Anyone brewing?
