The Teixeira Story: Handling of Classified Documents is Not Just 'Paper Pushing' [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-04-15 Jack Teixeira's 'job' did not end at day's end when he leaked classified material to the dark web — he was on active duty at Fort Bragg. He thus was under 24/7 military "command and control" when he posted classified material to the internet. Jack Teixeira didn't (couldn't) go home after work hours to play on his personal computer. But if he 'played' spy on his official 'work' computer, that would make things much worse for his superiors as it would suggest a dangerous and egregiously poor intelligence savvy regarding the materials he was assigned to work with. Further, where and how watertight was the 'C&C '(Command and Control) system control to prevent the mishandling of classified documents and the misuse of an official computer? It seems C&C was absent, outdated, poorly maintained, unmonitored, ignored, or 'down.' There should have been an active sub-program support net to catch such a leak at specified periods — minimally at the end of each 24-hour work stint, but preferably in real-time. Overall, the C&C system defending against cyber leaks in the Teixeira case seems to have been absent or naively existed only in the external reference. (But, indeed, there was one!!) Sadly, in light of the 'Teixeira Leaks,' it must be assumed that a preventive 'human role-and-documents' protection C&C system was absent. The 'Teixeira' case is a 'Bad Look' for DOD. Still, hopefully, a military-wide program will be initiated to assess, refund, and modernize both 'hard' and soft C&C systems through a new, forward-looking, assess-evaluate-plan-and-procure program.
