NRCC backs off Bud Light attacks after remembering Anheuser Busch is a major donor. [1]

Daily Beast - GOP Quietly Backs Off Attacking Bud Light—Its Own Major Donor

The NRCC posted — and deleted — this tweet attacking Bud Light after they realized that Anheuser Busch is a major donor to the GOP.

One GOP operative who spoke to The Daily Beast on condition of anonymity wondered why Republican donors would open their wallets back up to give to the group. “I assume they backtracked because they realized they were biting the hand that feeds them, and as soon as word gets around about that, why would anyone else give them big money in the future?” the Republican operative told The Daily Beast Saturday afternoon. “Bud Light has some idiots in their marketing department who thought this was a good idea,” the strategist continued. “The NRCC has some idiots in their marketing department that thought their response was a good idea. Maybe the ultimate lesson here is to stop letting the marketing geniuses make decisions and run things.”

Bud Light’s marketing doesn’t seem to have been idiotic at all. It’s just basic capitalism, attempting to market to as wide an audience as possible. It doesn’t seem to have harmed them, despite the best efforts of the GOP. Fox Business claimed that Bud Light sales have drastically fallen, but as evidence they cite one bar owner. Even if it’s true that Bud Light sales decreased at this one bar, that doesn’t mean that it’s true for the market as a whole. Also, we don’t know if we can trust this bar owner — and certainly we can’t trust Fox Business. They wouldn’t have cited any bar owner who said that they hadn’t noticed a decrease.

Republicans are always raving about “communist corporations” these days, but it’s really nothing new — it’s lifted right out of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. In that book, all the captains of industry who don’t agree with Rand’s views are “woke” and increasingly ridiculous. Atlas Shrugged is essentially a bible to many on the right.

But the NRCC’s convictions vanish upon realizing that it could cost them that sweet cash. Anheuser Busch isn’t on our side, they just want to market their products to as many people as possible. They donated mostly to Republicans, a total of $2,965,636 in donations, most of which went to Republicans , only $75,698 of that went to Democrats.

So, if you’re thinking of buying some Bud Light, just remember they aren’t our friends. Buy it if you like, but no reason to drink it if you’d rather drink something better. But do feel free to point and laugh at Republicans.
