I have not seen it referenced elsewhere in Kos. Oklahoma Governor Calls on Officials to Resign In essence, the McCurtain County officials were caught lamenting they could no longer lynch Blacks. Beyond that, they were discussing plans to kill a reporter who covered abuses in the sheriff’s office. This, very simply, is how the war on race education has now moved forward as a war on the free press. Folks who were used to having their own way, specifically with how they treated people who they did not feel were their equals, want to make sure no one knows about it, so they can continue to hold on to their power. The Governor has called on the officials to resign. Various lawsuits have already been filed. The bottom line, however is that this is not yet resolved. More importantly, it shows that these attitudes are still more widespread than many believe. As do many actions in Red States, this reminds us that we need to continue, where possible, to help those organizing for social justice against the odds.
