Ghana- Baby is Out of Hospital [1]

Melbourne is a baby in Ghana not yet two years old. His father was a taxi driver who is currently in prison for driving with an expired license and his mother has been trying to take care of Melbourne and her two other children all on her own. Because of health issues she has not been able to nurse the baby. She has been doing her best but the baby became seriously ill and she came to ask my friend John in Ghana for help.

John managed to get the baby into the hospital where the doctors found that he was severely malnourished. His little body simply could not digest the only food the mother was able to give him. He was also severely dehydrated because of the diarrhea the food his mother was giving him has been causing. There may have been other issues as well.

Melbourne has been in the hospital for days, too weak to go home. We have all been very worried.

John told me on Sunday that the hospital was going to release the baby on Monday morning. After we paid the bill. They do not just send you a bill over there. You must pay immediately or they hold you in the hospital as if you are in prison, and if you do not pay within a certain time prison is exactly where they will send you. John had signed to be responsible, so he is the one who would have been sent to prison if no one paid.

I was hoping to hear on Monday morning that the baby was released and at home but the hours passed- morning, afternoon, and evening- but no word. Considering the nature of Ghana I was becoming worried that something sinister had happened. And the baby has been seriously ill, so I was coming to fear the worst.

But finally John sent me a message that the baby was home. Very weak but home.

Got him home he been so weak and been all day tired ups and down

Must feed him under balance diet

John 9:14 PM

Hi

Got him home

He is going to be alright

we just have to keep am eye on him

And take Care of their food

Hi

Melbourne is home

Melbourne will be alright he is home and save just that u must understand it takes time to heal and that what we are all watng for

At least let's see few days home he will be active I hope

So that is the good news for today.

We almost lost this one but he is okay.
