Clarence Thomas does not understand the law [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-04-19 Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' wife, Ginni Thomas, earned more than $686,000 from the conservative Heritage Foundation from 2003 to 2007, but Thomas claimed “none” for his wife’s income on his financial disclosure form, now saying the error "was due to a misunderstanding of the filing instructions." Clarence and Ginni Thomas took lavish trips for decades as guests of Harlan Crow, a Republican billionaire megadonor, at least one of which was worth more than a half-million dollars, but did not report those gifts, now saying he “was advised that this sort of personal hospitality from close personal friends, who did not have business before the Court, was not reportable.” In 2014, Crow also purchased the Georgia house Thomas' mother lives in and made tens of thousands of dollars worth of improvements to it, which Thomas did not report. This man is on the Supreme Court of the United States, and he claims he is unable to understand legal conflict of interest filing requirements. He clearly has admitted he is either dishonest or else intellectually incapable of understanding the Law. Either way, he is unfit to be a Supreme Court justice.
