They were all a lot of fun to make and everyone who won one seemed very pleased with their winnings. I bought this tri fold display, like ones we used in school for science projects, to use as a photo back drop for all these things. Then I realized I could hang everything on it and set the ones that stand in front. It was so much more compact to display at the meeting and lots lighter than the quilt rack I had been setting up for this purpose. It did make me feel like a 3rd grade school teacher. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! I actually made the base of it in 2014 but it got lost until last week. It was a paper mached tube with nails inside. The paper mache was the L.A. Times newspaper Oct 2014 and the news was the same as today. So I finished it as you see here, the process is not important and filled it with white navy beans because they sounded the most like rain of all the things I tested. I was not expecting anyone to choose it as it is an old hippy kind of thing, but it got snapped right up and the ladies had fun turning it end to end and hearing the rain. About 3 ft long Next is this little bike and bird house piece. It is just a little country scene. There is a little lady bug on the roof of the bird house. This washboard is about 19 in high. It was tricky to make. One of the ladies told me right off she loved it and it was the last thing left when I asked who told me they loved it and she piped up so I gave it to her. Sometimes the larger items don’t go as well as the smaller ones and I understand so I was glad she wanted it and I could give it to her. I may make another for my garden. It stands in its little pots. I liked making the fence and planting it in this cool Dollar Tree metal pot. I wanted to use the pot for the French Laundry Soap piece but it was too small. This pizza pan art fit nicely. I don’t think it is this tipped but it might be. I call this my Dr. Seuss hens because I painted the back board green and when I decoupaged the napkin with the hens on it, the white hens became green. They lay green eggs for Dr. Seuss. Ham not included. This rooster has a good group of lady friends. I won’t bore you with details of production of this hanging flower basket but it is a clever idea I learned from a video and I really hated to see it go. The underlying base is a wooden easel. I didn’t have the size round or bird house I needed for this bird graphic so I made this all out of the card board from a Prime box. It is small and really cute. All made with card board “Hello spring” written with baby name bracelet beads on a small wooden pallet with a simple bow and rose. Sweet little wall hanging. I loved the odd ribbon that looks like webbing. This last one is a spring bonnet, not to be confused with an Easter bonnet. The green ribbons and danglies were part of a banana hair clip from my youth and long hair days. It broke in the middle years ago and got put into a box of weirdness for another day. That “another day” turned out to be last week and this bright hat. Can you spot the butter fly? I hand out about 20 prizes a month and that means most of the members win something often. I wonder how long these things will hold the interest of the group but for now, about half of them seem enchanted to be able to choose one of them rather than more sewing notions which make up the other half of the prizes. The new craft supplies are all beach themed, with a lot of blue and yellow. I will buy a few things but plan to try to use up what I have as much as possible before my craft room becomes dangerously overcrowded. I will have to paint more, use cardboard, and be more creative than just buying more. Have a good spring day all.
