Governor DeSantis signs a bill banning abortions after six weeks, which effectively bans abortions. The impact on women is not just dramatic to their ability to control their lives, but traumatic to their ability to protect their health, and could likely lead to fatal consequences. The NY Times, because I have a subscription, sends me email newsletters. Today’s was “The Tilt with Nate Cohn: Will a six week abortion ban hurt DeSantis?” Not that it would hurt DeSantis due to moral outrage, or its harm to women, but to his presidential ambitions. Sure, it is a typical “Yeah, Dems have won on the abortion fight, but Dems are losing on the abortion fight,” but that is not the issue. The issue is WTF about women’s lives? If I was NY Times Pitchbot I would imagine a 1942 article from the Times from Nate Cohn asking “Will the Wansee Conference hurt Hitler’s chances with independent Jewish voters?” Because that is how this stupid article reads. Thousands of women could be horribly affected by this ban and the Grey Lady wants to know, “Yeah, but how will it fly with his presidential ambitions?” Seriously, NY Times?
