Tyre Nichols's Family Sues Memphis et. al. [1]

The Washington Post has an extensive article on the family of Tyre Nichol’s lawsuit against the City of Memphis, the Police Department, the police chief, in her official capacity, and all of the former officers and emergency medical personnel involved, in their individual capacity. Comparing Nichols beating death at the hands of police to the 1955 lynching of Emmett Till, the complaint likened the police actions to a modern day lynching. Although the complaint does not specify a dollar amount, the damages are likely to blow through the $1.25 million dollars that the City of Memphis has allocated in his budget for lawsuits.
