About the war in Ukraine [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-04-20 This is all speculation on our part — but does make sense. The Russians may well have been drawn into a trap at Bahkmut. And if they are, it is too late for them to get out of it. Here is why — Those Ukrainian forces are TDF for the most part — deep reserves holding there. Not their best, put it that way. If that is true — and I am sure it is — what do you think happens when or if their regular army attacks them. It really did seem to me that Russia got west of that river a little too easy. If Ukraine really hit them there with better forces, I’ll put it that way — they could drive them into that same river. Could turn into a turkey shoot. Could very well be their thinking IMHO. Like getting into a city is one thing — getting out is another deal. For them to hold it for any time is pretty much impossible. I tried to say this before. I think they may be drawing them into a cauldron — and Russia has so many salients out there- so vulnerable. We used tactics like this, even in the Revolutionary War. Ever see the movie The Patriot? It is not that far off from reality. If you look at what we did to the British at like Cowpens, Guilford Courthouse it is what we did. We put up the weakest soldiers front and center, drew in the attack and then hit with the Continentals — From our rear and both flanks. It sure did not end well for the British, Cornwallis (and he was a really good general) — Cowpens was a slaughter, Guilford Court House a draw — and those battles both bled the British white. It really weakened them on their way to Yorktown. Just an example how that can work. And it sure occurs to me — those reserves Ukraine is using, even now, are holding their own somehow, too. Against Russia’s best forces no less. Better than we did in the Revolutionary War. And really, Ukraine has so many options in any counter offensive, fairly fresh, well trained and well armed and mobile and motivated forces out there. And they sure ain’t going up against someone like Cornwallis. There will be multiple axis of attacks they will launch- Russia will have no idea where it goes. As in— Russia is completely fucked and have been for some time. They are about to get a 2 by 4 shoved up their ass, IMHO. And they have no idea what direction it will come from. And it will sure be more than one. Not really my thoughts about this deal exactly, more like the group — it does make sense, totally plausible — I am more like lay siege to Crimea and their lines north of it will fold. Basically I agree with General Hodges about how this ends — so skip to the end and just end it. They need those fighter planes goddamn it. I have a much better time talking with guys from school about this war. I sure won’t be posting about this very often — so you know. We know — so should you - we are watching significant military history unfolding in real time. Kind of why we all went to military grad school in a way I think. Yes, if you are wondering — could just be a smaller part of an overall operation. Of course it probably is. But what an improbable battle it would be. It would completely humiliate the Russians. Completely. The main reason it is so plausible I think.
