Is there a point where that . . . more Democrats are starting to question whether a no talk, a no negotiation stance is, is . . . whether that really is a good idea. Do you think that is still a good idea? Ahh . . . Democrats are taking a “no talk, no negotiation stance.” No, you morons in the press, Democrats are taking a “no hostage” stance. Unlike Republicans, Democrats are not asking for any concessions or policy changes in exchange for preventing a financial collapse of the US and potentially the world. And here is the thing: if Democrats began negotiating over the debt ceiling, that means Democrats would be introducing their own demands, their own policy concessions as extortion. And then . . . the two sides would be farther from reaching agreement and closer to default. FFS, why does this need to be explained? But apparently it does. So, I need to hear a Democrat say in response to this question: “Yes, of course. Because if Joe Biden and the Democrats start naming their hostages, their demands for negotiation, then the two sides would be even farther apart. Financial disaster would be closer. Republicans should not use threats to destroy the U.S. economy to extort policies they apparently can’t get through democratic elections. Your question — suggesting that Democrats should do the same — is frankly obscene.” [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/4/23/2165507/-Press-memo-If-Biden-negotiates-over-the-debt-ceiling-we-ve-moved-closer-to-default-not-farther Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
