Holtec Energy just announced its agreement with Ukraine to rebuild a clean energy system. Holtec

Obviously, Russia has dedicated vast resources to destroying Ukrainian energy production and distribution. Seemingly, the Ukrainian government is looking ahead, not just to a rebuild, but to a climate-friendly rebuild. A new energy technology is now scheduled to be part of that rebuild.

For those not familiar with any SMR technology, Holtec’s version is just one of many likely to replace both fossil fuel plants and older nuclear energy technologies in the future. It has both strengths and weaknesses compared to some other SMR designs, but...they have a memorandum of understanding to build in the Ukraine, so they are neck and neck with several of these to be the first to roll out their technology on an industrial scale.
