Last October, the last F-16 left Madison's Truax field, leaving the Madison, WI. area a bit quieter for the last 7 months…

Until yesterday... I was sitting in my local pub, having a beer, waiting for Jeopardy! to start, when I heard a unfamiliar sound... I grabbed my smokes, went outside just in time to watch 4 F-35's, in formation, streaking northbound, toward the airbase… 👀 byThey moved up into the clouds, maneuvered out of site a bit, & we got a taste of the sound they make... A bit different from the F-16's, not sure, yet, if I'd say louder, though... They weren't very low...

They have arrived...👍 We are the 2nd airfield to receive the new platform, & it should be interesting to see how the community responds... There has been much protest about the F-35's by residents that will be affected by the noise, particularly on the north side, closer to the airport… they fly directly over my neighborhood as they are returning…

I hope that Sen. Tammy Baldwin does not suffer much loss of support, next year, for voting in favor of the F-35 placement at this airfield, in her state... Many local residents have been grumbling about the inevitable... Keeping this airbase open in a significant financial benefit to the local economy, but the trade-off has always been the noise, with the bonus of PFA's in our wells, & looming fear of a jet pancaking out in a populated area...

It's only been one day, so we shall see how it shakes out...
