I like Trae Crowder and his other two friends. I don’t listen to them a ton, but when I do, I like them all. And a lot of their discussions are good, but for me, this was the best. It is in my opinion the best discussion that they have ever had on a podcast. It is a great conversation and it is, in my opinion, a profound one. It starts at 49 minutes and 27 seconds. Original speaker: The people who really don’t fuck with me or us. Man there is so much genuine ignorance and I don’t know what you and I can do about it, I don’t know what anybody can do about it. People are like saying that this bill is to prevent drag queens from dancing with their crotches in front of kids’ faces and they mean that like they mean the sky is blue. And it doesn’t appear that they’re the the worst. It does appear that they’re the dumbest, but like I am getting in like long talks where I am like and they’re like, “Go read the bill!” And show me this part about prurient interest and I’m like, “That’s cool, but here’s what the rest of the bill says!” and then there’s like that thing where you’re invested in it, so it’s hard for you to back off, but then they’ll be like, “Oh, that just means that ...” It also says, “You can’t be in public impersonating a member of the opposite sex. I would like to ask you how a police officer is going to apply that to, in this order, a drag queen walking down the street, (other person says, “Halloween”) someone whom they think is trans, or somebody going a powder puff football game as a joke. It is technically illegal to do those things.” (their response) “No,” but people are so dumb, but scared and angry and like that calculus, that, the Venn Diagram, dude, it is to me, the scariest thing about America right now. It is how the evil shitty, awful the genuinely want to hurt people people will get away with it by convincing ignorant dumb people that: look, we’ve got to arrest these people (because) they’re trying to fuck kids! . (Other person): Also, have you ever seen evidence of one of these drag brunches where a drag queen actually touches a child in an inappropriate way? Because like if that actually was happening at an alarming rate, I would be on the side of, yeah, they don’t need to do that, but that’s not fucking happening. . Original speaker: That’s already illegal! By other laws! . Second speaker: Exactly! For both sexes, whatever, . Original speaker: Winning that argument isn’t the point. How do we, not me and you, what can be done about the fact that people are so convinced by what? the media, Fox? I don’t even know what it is that this bill is about protecting kids? . Second speaker: I have been saying for a long time where I’ve recently believed it even more than that’s a different type of ignorance like, you literally cain’t do anything about it because the other side has done sort of the ‘church trick’ where they, like whenever these people do hear somebody saying facts and stuff, they are told to believe (points to head) that that’s (education and truth about trans people and non binary people ) manipulation by George Soros and the fuckin devil people, right? So, you can’t do anything and frankly in order to not be ignorant you have to choose to not be ignorant and these people don’t wanna do it. like I did that for a long time in my life where like there was a lot of shit that I didn’t know and I just thought it’s better if I don’t know, I would rather just live my life in this little bubble or whatever, you’ve got to go out of your way to look at some things in the face, these specific types of motherfuckers are never going to do that. I think that the only thing that you can hope do do is to catch people who are genuinely just now kind of tuning in to (does Rush Limbaugh youtube dance thing) the world trying to figure their way out and be kind and compassionate and hopefully, they’ll, I don’t fuckin know, dude, but this pure type, they do not want to believe anything different because they have hate in their heart! . Original speaker: maybe, but I’m talking about people who like watch Ru Paul’s drag show because they’re saying things in these comments like I like drag shows, it’s not a place for kids! Yeah, those are at bars! There’s already laws that say kids can’t go to that! This law is about preventing drag queens from reading to children and it’s about trans people. It’s so clearly targeting just trans people or non binary people. So, like, if you say to me that I have no problem with those people, I just don’t want them putting their crotches in kids’ faces, one would think we could say, “Alright, that’s not what’s happening. Are you on my team now?” And there’s such a disconnect there and I know that for some of them, it’s because they don’t want to admit that they’re hateful, but it sure feels like for some of them, they really think that this law is for protecting, they really believe it’s for protecting kids. And that’s, maybe I’m naive, but that’s a little gutwrenching! . Trae Crowder: No, it’s 100% gutwrenching, but I don’t think, not to just say that you are naive, but I don’t find it surprising at all. They do that… I feel like they do that with almost everything, you know what I mean, like what Cori was saying, they want to and are intent upon saying things a certain way and as far as how to get through to that stereotypically speaking, the only way that any of that ever changes is if it actually affects them on a personal level, you know what I mean, like they have whatever, they got a son who turned into a drag queen and they get drug to a fucking bar .and see a show or something and all of a sudden, everything’s different but, it’s like that can’t happen to all of them, but you know, it’s microscopic amounts of change or whatever I’m saying that I genuinely believe that defeatist as it may be that for a lot of these people, it takes something like that to make them see it any other kind of way and nothing else works which don’t help. . Original speaker: I guess my ignorance and naivete though, you want to pinpoint it, it’s like you tell these people, “They’re locking up kids at the border and also most Mexican who come here aren’t criminals, that’s like, if you look at the percentage, illegal immigrants have way less criminals inside that group than others blah, blah and they just, they don’t care like they do not care. But I’m talking to, I’m arguing with people that at least seem to be like, like fans of Ru Paul, it’s not important to them but it does seem to affect them, it does seem like they think Ru Paul can still come to Tennessee and the thing is that this band went through legally, Ru Paul could not, not in public. . Second speaker: We talked about it last week. Basically, by the letter of the law. men can’t wear makeup, right? . Trae Crowder: That is in Texas, isn’t it? all competing with each other for dipshit trophies . Original speaker: That’s the new Waubash (unintelligible- phonetic spelling???cannonball . Second speaker: The only way that anybody’s mind would be changed, on that, is if they literally did arrest Travis Tritt at one of his concerts, just for having fucking eyeliner on. . Trae Crowder: Because we make all these points, what about a performer, a theater, a play or, whatever, you’ve got to wear make up or all this other shit, what about Halloween, but like we all know that like or what about the drag shows we do for football high school you mentioned, we all know that the truth is that is like, the answer to that question is that, that’s all still going to be fine because none of that stuff is ‘queer’ (Trae used air quotes) or queers doing it’s always going to be, even if it’s by the letter of the law, illegal, it’s always going to be fine as long as it’s straight people doing it, no one is ever going to care about any of that ever, no matter what these laws say, they’ll just be the queer versions who’ll be persecuted and prosecuted and everything . Original speaker: They even say that. like (unintelligible) this is different. Well, the law doesn’t say that it’s different. It’s like he’s acknowledging that he’s saying out loud, “Yeah, I’m not going after those people.” I guess where my ignorance came in, Trae, is it sure did seem like some of these people were a little bit more okay with queerdom. Like there’s no other way for me to say it like, it sure seemed like we had through pop culture turn the tide, not on the crazy right wing Christian people who show up with their guns and crosses which is like regular ass Americans, I am telling you that there are regular ass Americans in my comments, being like , ‘Dude, what the fuck are you talking about?’ . Trae Crowder: On that note, it’s because kids . Second Speaker: that’s the buzzword. . Trae Crowder: kids do shit to some people because before all this stuff, there was Q-Anon right, meaning I know one lady personally, but I know there’s been a bunch of other people, but I met this lady who was like (makes signs with hands and fingers) sort of an acquaintance of Katy’s, years ago I met her, after I had already started, I already went viral and everything, I met this lady who was an acquaintance of Katy’s who was a huge fan of mine cause she was like a ‘liberal’ and shit, but she’s a mom and she’s real, real hard core , ‘We’ve got to protect these kids’ right, so Q-Anon becomes a thing and, you know, they’re like hurting kids and, there’s like a global child sex trafficking ring and I made a brief little internet sketch about this, about how as a dad I understand how somebody hears that and goes, ‘Well, that’s a serious fucking problem!’, ‘People should care about that!’, but what I don’t get is when you then go, tell me more ! And they start talking about fucking adrenachrome (phonetic spelling unintelligible) and vampires and Bill Gates and Tom and all this shit, I don’t know how you then don’t go, “Okay! You’re insane, I'm out, but some people didn't, like this lady, she was like this liberal woman who super loved her kids, cares about kids, finds out there's a problem , kids are endangered , she starts peeling behind the curtain , Q-Anon is behind the curtain , next thing you know, she goes full down the rabbit hole and gets sucked into it and I think it's maybe a similar thing with some of the types of people you're talking about where it's like when it comes to kids, then you know, like, the implication to the children are endangered, however much bullshit can cloud their judgement or reasoning or something like that you know... Just makes people be different . Then they go into the right's obsession with pedophilia, but pointing out how it can be poorly perceived if you don't take it seriously even though in these cases it's pure bullshit. . .
