Name the comedian. Not exactly the sort of thing I do on a weekly basis. I think the last comedy show I attended was when Bill Bailey was in town. Parts of the experience were a bit surreal. Even the comedians commented on the number of people running around. Who were all these people leaving their seats and rushing out of the theater? Who were all these people rushing in and seating themselves? Why are the security guys constantly pacing up and down the aisles? I'd never seen such a distracting audience— but despite that, the show was good. My little family had a great time. The next day we headed out to the country to pick on the garden. Rhubarb and grass mostly at this point. A nice little European Goldfinch eyeing one of our feeders. The hyacinths were looking pretty good too. Here are about half of the blossoms on our poor, pathetic, little, struggling peach tree. A bit early, bound to get killed by a late frost. Blood tests and a doctor's appointment snuck their way into my usual work week. And yes, Spellcheck, I'm happy with the word "snuck.” I also managed a trip across town to visit a favorite seed store that I haven't visited in a decade or two. Plans for the garden are getting into gear! At home, the seedlings are dying left and right. My first batch of tomatoes— dead. My hot peppers? Down to a feeble, single seedling. Oh well. I've got the tarragon and bergamot poking up— I think. So tiny. I've bought seeds for: zucchini, pumpkins, butternut squash, sweet peas, bush beans, pickling cucumbers, fennel, dill, sage, radishes, carrots and root parsley. This weekend I'll hopefully be getting a start on a new raised bed to expand my herb collection. And just maybe I'll finally figure out what I'm doing for a new gate to help keep the critters out of the garden. I might even be burning a witch in effigy. It's a Czech tradition, oddly embraced by my little witch: Mrs the Werelynx. Hmm, maybe I'll make a clay witch— I could empty that pot full of old scraps of clay— I could use the pot to boil a fresh batch of walnut ink. Perhaps the garden could wait— although I’ll surely want to get those peas planted. Pic from my neighborhood, showing that Prague is truly blooming this week. Thanks for stopping by. This is an open thread.
