I cannot believe that for generations women have been subjected to ridicule in court because they do not scream when raped.

Rape is an act of violence. It is natural, then, to conclude that the perpetrator is capable of murder. When confronted with the possibility of a predatory death, our minds give us two possible courses of action: attempt to resist (fight or flee) or pretend to be dead (freeze, or “play possum”).

Reviewing his line of questioning to E. Jean Carroll, I am outraged not only by his cruelty, but that victim’s psychologists have not sensitized courts to this truth — a truth that should be established as cause for summary judgment of contempt when lawyers pursue this strategy.

Understanding this, I would not have been able to restrain myself in court. Not having been present, I am instead left only with this post as a means of venting my anger with the entire misogynistic project which is our criminal justice system.
