[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2023-04-29 It’s been an eventful few months, even if I’ve been completely uninvolved in most of what’s going on. It surely does seem, though, that 2022 was just yesterday. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! ************************* The youngest published author in the world. A hoard of Roman coins was probably buried during one of the Republic’s civil wars. Your opponents aren’t as bad as you think. Cheesy recipes from The Guardian. Medieval accounts of lunar eclipses are helping scientists study medieval volcanic eruptions. Cheap chicken dinners from The Guardian. Mapping out advice on tipping around the world. ************************* I got my hearing checked last Tuesday. It hasn’t changed much since ten years ago, which is when I last had it checked. I have been referred to get my ears cleaned. Parking on Pill Hill has changed — for patients, it is now free and much easier to deal with. If I still worked there, I would STILL be taking the bus. My grandson has tennis lessons after school every Tuesday till the end of the school year. Thursday my grandson went to work with his mother for Take Your Kid to Work Day. My kids never went for the Take Your Daughter to Work Day — there were too many other times I had to take them to work with me. I don’t know why my daughter needed to drive to work on Friday (Thursday was obvious), but she took her son to school and he went home with one of his classmates. In theory, I was supposed to get fiber internet and phone service by noon Saturday. In fact, while CenturyLink now has fiber cables in the neighborhood, there is nothing coming to my complex that the tech could find. He said there’s no indication of buried lines coming here, and nothing to let him string a line through the air at the required height. I told him to cancel the order and I would see what could be done. In fact, I need to decide if I want to go through this hassle a third time. I have received my notice from the rental company that owns the complex I live in. My rent will go up $20 in August, and (if I’m reading this correctly) I will no longer have to pay for hot water. ************************* Love you guys!
