In my house, we're all Star Wars Fans.. as well as Star Trek fans.

Happy Friday! I’m kind of glad this past week is done. Surgery is finally done and now maybe this leg will heal. Next week is another busy one, so keep your fingers crossed for no seizures!



Thursday was May the 4th, otherwise known as Star Wars day. As that’s when I’m actually writing this diary, it’s about Mark Hammil and Star wars… because as the picture above shows, I’m a Star Wars fan.

I saw “A New Hope” when I was 7 years old, for my birthday. I’ve seen every movie since, mostly on my birthday, until they changed them to premiering in December instead. But, now that we have streaming, FlSNDad buys me the new movies for my birthday when they come out, so I get to keep that bit of tradition alive.

I even wrote a Star Wars Fan Fiction when I was in middle school (before Fan Fics were cool), just before Empire came out. And.. of course both Vader and the Emperor were in it, and it was set ‘in the future’ for time period.. so that was a bit awkward, but it was fun anyway. Luke was always one of my favorite characters and featured prominently in my fan fic. I spent many hours handwriting it, then typing it up on my typewriter and editing it when I was in high school. I think my original copy is currently at my dad’s house, I’ll have to get it back from him one day. It ended up being about 250 pages or so.





As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
