INTRODUCTION I thought it would be interesting to create a word search puzzle. My idea was to use words and phrases that Fox News executives and on-air personalities used to describe Trump, Trump’s lawyers, and their audience. I have done just that. It is near the bottom of this post. But before I started, I wanted to learn more about Word Search puzzles, their history, and how they can be gratifying, useful, and entertaining. I knew that my neighbor was an avid reader/user of these books, so I asked him. INTERVIEW WITH MY NEIGHBOR, A RETIRED AIR FORCE CAPTAIN Q. When did you start doing Word Search puzzles? A. Probably 20 years ago. Q. How often do you do Word Search puzzles? A. All day, all night. Q. Can you guess how many puzzles you have completed? A. One every two days. Q. Do you buy books that have lots of puzzles in them? A. Yes. Q. Where do you find these books? A. Food Lion. Dollar General has them too. Q. How often do you buy those books? A. Whenever they have new ones available. Q. Is there a publisher that you like best? A. Yes. PennyPress. Q, Why do you like them best? A. They got what I want. The others, some are too simple, and some are a pain in the ass. Q. Do you like the Word Search puzzles that include word lists, or ones that do not have a word list? A. Both. Q. Are there some puzzles that you don’t like? That you won’t do? A. Numbers and some are like license plates. Heads and Tails. Those puzzles require you to find the start of the word in one place in the puzzle, and the ending of the word in another place in the puzzle. Q. Do you feel that Word Search puzzles help keep your mind active? A. Yes. Q. Do you ever time yourself to see how quickly you can solve a puzzle? A.
